This close relative of man has been hunted, sold, shot as trespassers in their own back yard and as a result, reducing their numbers to critical levels. Biodiversity loss is the main cause for their decline. Palm oil being the number one cause of deforestation. Targeting awareness campaigns to help people recognise unsustainable palm oil in products, conforming to ethical and moral principles to stop the exploitation of these animals, is the key to unlocking a more stable future for our cousins. In doing so, we will also protect our natural biodiversity’s in which the Orangutan live. Reducing the imminent threat of global warming and in doing so, saving us all. Orang Utan or’ Person of the forest’ as their name directly translates, are the ambassadors for change, for they are the visionaries of the forest, who would prefer to see the woods through the trees. It begs the question, who are we to call them primative.
