Ward Cooper
winner of Saving Nature Raffle
Hi Casey and Emma,
I hope you are both doing well.
Just today, I received the attached camera trap video of an orangutan in our corridor. He lives near the Conservation Research Unit and comes down from the canopy every now and then to visit the salt lick.
I couldn't wait to show you the impact you have had --- thanks to you, this orangutan will have more forest to call home.
You two are amazing people and RANGO has helped save his species.
xoxo

Protection
Rango raises £1000
Rango, a sculpture of a Borneon Orangutan.
Raise 1000 pounds in The Born Free online auction in July 2020.
100% of the profits went to Rescue, rehabilitate and release programs such as this:
This is Gadang returning to the wild.
He’s a male orangutan who was living in a community plantation in Central Kalimantan, Borneo.
Gadang was rescued by the Orangutan Foundation. Found to be in good health, he was released into a safer place – the protected area of Lamandau Wildlife Reserve
Rango raises £2000
The 2000 dollars raised by Rango in the Peta auction, went to C.A.L.E. or Captive Animal Law Enforcement, Peta department that liberates animals (and, more often than not, apes) from TV and film exploited use. Recently, this department has successfully lobbied to get productions to use digital animals instead of real animals as well as liberated animals from exploited use by trainers (like the orangutan Popi but this department is basically concerned with helping out great apes more than any other animal. So, by directing the donated funds here, your donation will go directly toward helping us free more great apes and move them to sanctuaries where they won’t be exploited anymore. Here’s a few articles about the work C.A.L.E. has completed in the last few years (including the successful lobbying of Hollywood to the point where there are actually no longer any working chimpanzees in TV and film!):
Rango Raises $6,500
After 16 acres raised, Rango has found a home.
A Saving Nature Update
AUGUST UPDATE
We did it! We raised over $6,500 in our Rango raffle, which will go towards the purchase of another 50 acres in Sumatra to expand the wildlife corridor. This land will help connect and protect the vital and unique Leuser ecosystem in Sumatra, Indonesia - the only ecosystem where Sumatran orangutans, rhinos, elephants, and tigers co-exist.
We want to congratulate Ward Cooper, seen above with Rango, for winning this fantastic prize in our raffle last week on Facebook Live. We also want to thank Casey Banwell and Emma Pritty, who generously donated this original sculpture.
Lastly, a huge thank you to all of the supporters who have helped save the Leuser Ecosystem. Learn more about our project here. Although Saving Nature has a long way to go, we wanted to celebrate this victory with you.
Let us keep fighting the good fight!
With much gratitude,
Dr. Stuart Pimm

Saving Nature Raffle Protection
The raffle will raise funds for the protection of pangolins. The proceeds from the raffle will protect them from habitat loss, persecution, and wildlife trafficking. Every raffle ticket brings hope for their future.
Hi Casey!!
You made this happen!! You inspired us to try something new and gave us the courage to reach for the stars.
We are planning our next round of land purchases in Sumatra. The local villages have now embraced the corridor and will allow our partner to manage their community forests to protect their natural heritage.
We are forever grateful to you.
Stay well and keep doing amazing things!!!
Hugs and kisses.
Erin
2000 dollars raised for Saving Nature campaign to help protect the Leuser Ecosystem, one of the last refuge for charismatic wildlife species such as the Sumatran rhino, tiger and elephants.
All the proceeds from the raffle went towards the conservation and preservation of the Sumatran rhinos in the Leuser Ecosystem
The Pangolin Project is a non-profit organisation based in Kenya, dedicated to pangolin conservation research and protection.
Pangolins need our help. They are the most illegally trafficked mammal in the world due to demand for their scales in traditional medicine.
We are working to identify and conserve important pangolin populations in our region, raising awareness and using science to inform conservation strategy.
